Ugh! Everyone is waking up, groggily making their way downstairs and trying to shake out the cobwebs from that crazy New Year’s party. You could use a little hair of the dog as well, but you’re not feeling mimosas and you drank all of the champagne last night anyway.

I have always enjoyed the idea of a screwdriver, but personally I am not a big vodka fan. I find the Orange Delilah much more interesting as it uses gin for the base alcohol. The Cointreau adds an appropriate sweetness to compliment the citrus ingredients. Plus it’s not complicated as I’m sure you’re not looking for a project first thing in the morning.

The List:

  • 1½ oz of a Dry Gin
  • ½ oz of Cointreau
  • 2 oz of OJ
  • Lemon

So you don’t have everything on hand, no worries. This is a really nice option for a brunch beverage. Nothing wrong with a great Bloody Mary, but those are usually not crowd pleasers. Try out this one next Sunday morning with family or friends. Make a round, pass them around and chat about plans for the day!

The Basic Moves:

  • Combine the gin, Cointreau and OJ in a shaker
  • Squeeze a slice of lemon, add ice and shake
  • Pour over rocks and garnish with a lemon peel

The Hangover Move:

  • Loosely measure while pouring straight into a glass over ice.

You’re on the road to recovery!
