I am very excited about our partnership with Black Button Distilling this month, and in sampling their Citrus Gin, I found it to be so distinctive that I didn’t want to hide its flavors. I’m also really enjoying gin & tonics at the moment, they’re just so summery. So I thought: why not play up the citrus flavors to upgrade an average gin & tonic? Usually they have lime, but I wanted a medley of citrus. Also inspired by José Andrés’ restaurant Jaleo and its gin & tonic menu, I wanted to incorporate unexpected herbs. I decided on cilantro and mint.
It’s simple, it’s refreshing, it overflows with the essence of summer. Most importantly, it showcases the unique citrus notes of the gin.
- 2 oz Black Button Citrus Gin
- Fresh mint
- Fresh cilantro
- Fresh lime peel
- Fresh grapefruit peel
- Fresh lemon peel
- Tonic
Place a few sprigs each of mint and cilantro in the bottom of a glass, and press lightly with a spoon or muddler. Top with gin and tonic, and garnish with citrus peels.
Cheers!
