Crisp air, warm fires, and breathtaking foliage, this past holiday weekend Michael and I went away with our friends to my family’s lake house in Stoddard, New Hampshire. Our plan was simple: explore the trails in the woods behind the property by day, and sit by the campfire by night. To keep spirits light and our bodies toasty, a warming drink was an essential.
Bored with the idea of ordinary spiked cider, I concocted something a bit different…
In a saucepan, heat:
- 8 oz Temptation Straight Bourbon Whiskey
- 3.5 oz Vapor Distillery Pumpkin King Cordial
- 2 tablespoons angostura bitters
- 32oz pear cider (available at Whole Foods, or make your own)
Warm everything over the stove and just when you get to a simmer, turn off the heat and pour into mugs.
Hint: for walks in the woods, make double batch and pour into travel mugs 😉
Hope this warms your autumn season!
